Refund and Cancellation Policy

Please review the American Academy of Professional Studies (AAPS) policy regarding cancellations, refunds, and fee structures.

Last Updated: October 24, 2023

1. General Principles

AAPS aims to ensure transparency and fairness in all financial transactions. By submitting an application for certification or membership, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy. All fees are charged in USD.

Important Notice on Non-Refundable Fees

Due to the administrative costs associated with reviewing eligibility, maintaining the assessment infrastructure, and issuing digital credentials, most AAPS fees are strictly non-refundable.

2. Certification Application Fees

Fees paid for certification applications cover the cost of eligibility review and assessment administration.

  • Before Assessment Booking: If an application is rejected during the initial eligibility review phase, the application fee (minus a 20% administrative processing charge) may be refunded upon request.
  • After Assessment Booking: Once an applicant books a specific exam slot or accesses the assessment portal, the certification fee becomes 100% non-refundable.
  • Failed Assessments: Fees are not refundable if an applicant fails the assessment. Retake fees will apply.

3. Membership Subscriptions

AAPS Membership provides immediate access to digital resources, directories, and member benefits.

  • Membership fees are non-refundable once the account is activated.
  • Memberships are billed annually and do not auto-renew. You must manually renew your membership if you wish to continue.

4. Preparatory Programs (ELC Fees)

If you purchase a preparatory training program through an authorized AAPS Education and Learning Center (ELC), that transaction is strictly between you and the ELC.

  • AAPS does not process refunds for training fees paid to third-party ELCs.
  • You must refer to the specific ELC’s refund and cancellation policy for any training-related reimbursement requests.

5. Cancellations by AAPS

In the rare event that AAPS must cancel a scheduled assessment or revoke access to a service due to technical failure or administrative error:

  • Assessment Cancellations: If AAPS cancels an assessment, candidates will be offered a full rescheduling at no additional cost, or a full refund of the assessment fee.
  • Service Interruption: AAPS is not liable for refunds due to temporary website outages, maintenance, or force majeure events.

6. How to Request a Refund

If you believe you are eligible for a refund based on the criteria above, you must submit a request in writing via email. Include your full name, AAPS ID (if applicable), and the reason for the request.

Requests must be made within 14 days of the transaction date. Approved refunds will be processed back to the original payment method within 14-21 business days.
